Wed Aug 15, 2007, 10:27 AM
I'm going to Japan in three weeks!!!! I'm so excited, it's like a dream come true! I'm going to be staying at a hostel in Tokyo and then bunking with a few friends in Nagoya~ it's gonna be super fun! I can't wait to eat all their tasty food and inhale their culture and take pictures of lollita girls! X3 X3

If anyone has tips or advice on travelling in Japan, please please please let me know, I'm so nervous about losing myself in the crowd and get totally lost because I can't read kanji~~ >.< Recommendations for food to try out or places to go or festivities to participate in, would be very much appreciated. And of course, shopping~! Things I should definately bring back...

If your Asian and they try to talk to you and you don't understand say you are American and not another Asian country, they will treat you badly if you do. My sister went over there for a year and her boyfriend went to visit and he is Asian, and when someone asked he said Chinese and they refused to talk to him anymore. Also, try to stay in tourist places, they love tourist but hate foreigners. My sister had problems with people moving or people telling her she could not sit there because she was American.
learn basic kanji like subway and learn the names of some basic food.

some things to remember:
1) those fast food places are your friend, jus kick it with all the business men with 10 min lunch breaks and eat yakkiniku (its mad cheap and fills u up). They are like 10 seat bar type places smaller than ur bathroom.
2) the subway is a beast, buy whatever metropass thing they have there. its the only transport you really need.
3) "watashewa nihongo-ga wakademas-sen"
i dont understand japanese. your a tiny asian girl, they will think you speak japanese.
4) learn the name of your hotel, how to say subway and how to order some basic shit.
5) i cannot stress this enough: go to harajuku and shinjuku. ill kill you if you dont. bring me back a BAPE cap will ya? hahaha

Bugrit! Millennium hand and shrimp!
Wow, that is SO true. I'm not Asian, well not in terms Americans put it in, and me and 3 friends were in Japan past March. We were treated so badly when we told them we were Canadians, even though one of my friends speaks and read and writes fluently in Japanese, and my other friends and I actually understand and speak a bit of Japanese (me being the worst of them). Just stay with other tourists and HAVE FUN! ENJOY!
have fun! I won't I hate summer school...

When Mankind speaks of love he refers to vague perceptions he cannot understand....

When God speaks of love he usually refers to man...
I've heard this before - it makes me nervous about ever visiting.... :/
But I want to go so bad - I just want people to be nice to me though!
